Your Treatment Journey
Consultation
The first part of the process is a consultation. This is normally done separately before your initial treatment. I will talk with you in great detail about the look you are trying to achieve and what I recommend for you. This is a two-way conversation. I listen, I respond and I advise. We will talk about possible colour choices and shapes. Most importantly I will do an allergy test and fill out a medical health questionnaire. I have to be sure there isn’t any contradiction why I shouldn’t carry out the procedure.
After 24 hrs with a negative allergy test, you can have the procedure.
Pre-treatment advice: Be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the treatment. This will subside and become lighter as the skin heals. This process can take up to 10 days.
All treatments:
- Delicate skin and sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised not to make social plans on the same day.
- Please wear your usual makeup to the salon on the day of your treatment.
- A sensitivity patch test will be performed prior to treatment.
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or coumadin for two days before and two days after the treatment. However, you must not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.
- Don’t drink alcohol the night before and on the day of your treatment.
Eyebrow treatments:
- Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before treatment.
- Electrolysis no less than 1 week before treatment.
- Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for two weeks prior and 3 weeks after treatment.
Eyes:
Upper eyelash enhancement £210
Colour boost
12-15 months £150
15 months / over £190
Lip treatments:
- If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simlpex), we advise you to contact your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks.
- Alternatively, obtain herpes medication such as Zovirax from your local chemist and use one week before and one week after your treatment. This can help minimise an outbreak.
- Permanent makeup treatments do not cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, it lays dominant in the body and can be triggered by the treatment.
- Lip wax or bleaching treatments should not be undertaken for at least a two-week period preceding your permanent make up treatment.
About
Treatment:
Using a professional facial medical tattooing machine, which works at a much lower frequency than standard tattoo machine, I gently apply pigment to the skin using very fine needles. The sensation is that of an electric toothbrush being held against your skin- you feel the vibration but you should not feel too much discomfort. However, pain can vary from person to person. I will always work with you at this stage, giving you breaks if you need them. The process normally takes around 2-3 hours depends on the treatment and on your individual requirements.
Immediately after treatment, you should expect the area to look 20-30% darker than the colour you have chosen. This will start to fade after 5-7 days.
After treatment, I will provide you with an aftercare balm and talk you through what you have to do as aftercare.
The Retouch:
A second appointment is needed 6-12 weeks after your first treatment. This is usually a shorter appointment to add more pigment to the tattooed area. This is because as the area is healing, some parts may not ‘hold’ as well as others and you may have a few patches that need more colour. This is completely normal and everyone heals differently. Whatever the case, I always advise you to come back for your retouch.
Aftercare:
Please remember that the colour is up to 30-40% darker immediately after the treatment. It will start to become lighter after 4-7 days. The true healed colour will not come through until approximately 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of skin. Under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetics work undertaken during this 4-6 weeks period.
Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area. This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection. Allow the skin to flake on its own.
Aftercare:
- You may experience the following for 2-5 days after treatment: tenderness, flaking, dryness, swelling and redness. After eye procedures, lashes may stick together and eyelids appear red and puffy.
- Do not use makeup until 72 hours after the treatment. If you have had eye treatment, use a new mascara.
- Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This can include the direct sun, tanning beds, jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been instructed to use.
- If you have had a lip treatment, you should also avoid eating spicy and salty foods, drink liquids through a straw, refrain from kissing.
Maintenance:
Short term maintenance for eyebrows: every 6-8 weeks an eyebrow tint and shape is recommended. Light brow hair can make your brows look dull and uneven. Shaping your eyebrows will give you a well-groomed defined finish.
Protecting your permanent make up:
- To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen or moisturiser with SPF 50.
- Take care when using moisturisers and other skin products which contain glycolic or fruit acids. These can fade permanent makeup.
- If you are planning to have anti-ageing injectables or cosmetic surgery, remember these procedures can alter the shape of your lips and eyebrows.
- Laser hair removal can fade of your lips and eyebrows procedure, always advise the laser technician you are wearing permanent makeup and they can act accordingly.
